A cracking feature race this, with Henry Cecil's FLAME OF GIBRALTAR carrying our support in preference to Splashdown and Barshiba. A daughter of Rock of Gibraltar, she was far from disgraced when runner up in the Ribblesdale, with Uvinza back in third. She lost her maiden tag at Lingfield second time out over a mile and a quarter, and showed a great attitude and plenty of ability when stepped up in class and distance. She's got more similarly fancy entries to come too. Splashdown steps up to this distance for the first time, and aims to follow up success in a listed race at Newbury last month. Barshiba has to give weight away all-round, and is the top rated by several pounds. She's among the more experienced here, but doesn't win too often, although a fortnight ago won The Lancashire Oaks over this trip at Haydock to end any doubts over her stamina. John Gosden's made a habit of winning this race in previous years, but Mooakada has little appeal, although she did win here on debut in October. In a couple of races since she's not really impressed. It may turn out to be pretty tight in both the ring and on track, but we favour claims of Flame Of Gibraltar.
