In depth

Verdict

Pipedreamer is taken to take up from where he left off but it will be fascinating to see how the Cecil colts Multidemensional and Phoenix Tower fare whilst Stotsfold and the seasoned campaigner Kandidate cannot be easily dismissed. Pipedreamer's connections had big concerns about the going prior to his impressive success in the Cambridgeshire but they proved immaterial as he ran out a ready winner. Connections are unlikely to risk him if the ground goes against him again and he should successfully make the step up to Pattern company this season. Stotsfold managed to bridge the gap between Group and handicap races on his final start of the campaign when landing a Group 3 at Goodwood and he should have more to offer. High hopes were held for Multidimensional last year but he was off the track for a long time after fracturing a pelvis. However, he was only beaten 7 lengths in the Champion Stakes despite little going right for him in the race itself as well as the season and it looks significant that connections are persevering. He's versatile with regard to underfoot conditions and is feared but we'll side with the progressive Pipedreamer.
