A race chock full of possibilities but we'll restrict the short-list to WHISKY GALORE, Open Sesame and Royal Willy. The majority of the field have the potential to step up on the form that they've shown to date and the market may assist as it did at Warwick when Bob Stock was well backed and he would have landed the touch as well but for an errant display in the closing stages which saw him lose the race in the stewards' room. He's able to race from the same mark but this does look tougher. Clive Cox is enjoying a great run of form at the moment which is why we're siding with Whisky Galore who still has to prove that he truly sees out this trip. That's the only real concern though as he showed promise in all three starts and appears to be on a fair mark. Open Sesame has had just the one run but he scored nicely and doesn't look overburdened either; the bare form is ordinary but he was well backed and looked a nice prospect. Royal Willy showed a modicum of ability on his first two starts but there was much more to like about his second to Captain Dancer on his final outing. His yard have given signs that they could be about to get into swing for the season and he may be able to take another step in the right direction. We can't leave without mentioning Sham Sheer and Itlaaq but there are plenty more names that could be added to a roll call which we hope will be headed by Whisky Galore.
