Verdict
With the 1,000 Guineas just around the corner, this should prove most informative. Ego sets the standard having finished fourth in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. A likeable filly, she didn't see the racecourse until August, which was somewhat surprising as she was an early foal. Still she repaid connections patience when picking up a couple of minor events, showing a particularly smart turn of foot on the latter occasion at Doncaster. Although she was a little disappointing in the Cheveley Park, it could well have been that she may have "gone over the top". She remains a filly of promise and will need to win this if she is to take her chance in the first fillies classic. Garmoucheh had to earn her corn last year and has plenty of experience. Although she handles fast ground, she showed improved form to finish second in a Listed event on soft ground at Newbury last backend and being by Silver Hawk, she is always likely to need plenty of give underfoot to show her best. Khulood, the impressive winner of the Oh So Sharp Stakes here last year, proved well suited to the forcing tactics employed that day. If allowed to bowl along she could well take some pegging back. Hector's Girl looks to have plenty to prove on what she has achieved to date, but she is from a powerful yard and deserves plenty of respect. Hold To Ransom, a half-sister to the useful middle-distance performer Most Welcome will surely find the principals too sharp for her over this trip, while Cala, although improving, Miss Assertive and Sister Bluebird all look outclassed.
