Ashdown Express has solid claims at the weights but would prefer a faster surface and preference is for Eisteddfod, who is taken to reverse Hamilton form with Bygone Days. The last mentioned put up a decent performance on his return to the UK when landing that conditions race last month by beating Fonthill Road by three-quarters of a length. The selection was a further two lengths further back in third place but is now 7lbs better off at the weight so has every chance of reversing form under ground conditions that suit ideally. Baltic King is back in his grade having run creditably in the Group 2 Diadem Stakes last time and makes more appeal than Tax Free, who has yet to recapture his best form. Fantasy Believer has been in the form of his life of late and has to be respected although this looks tougher for him, while Borderlescott has done little wrong of late and will relish any further rain that falls. The old campaigner Quito can be expected to run his usual good race but Eisteddfod may be worth another chance judged by his Hamilton run and he is preferred.
