A huge field and the finding of the winner will no doubt be well-rewarding; from a shortlist of Thebes, Steelcut, Fullandby and OLDJOESAID, it is the last-named who is nominated. Henry Candy's gelding has been kept in the main to ground with some cut in but his debut win came on quick ground at Sandown and he has run well on it since. He has four wins to his name, and is ideally suited by a strong pace as he travels well and he also has the ability to quicken well; he looks sure to get a strong tempo here as he is drawn near several quick horses. Thebes is one of these, and Mark Johnston's gelding has been running well in defeat recently, comments that also apply to old-timer Mutamared, Blue Jack and Orpsie Boy. Steelcut won well at Thirsk a couple of weeks back, whilst Carleton was an eye-catcher at Bath on his recent comeback and he looks the sort to run well from the bottom of the weights. Shifting Star is interesting returning from a winter break as he has run well when fresh before, comments that also apply to Damika and Wise Melody. Evens And Odds, course and distance winners Fantasy Explorer, Prohibit, Exclamation and Fullandby, and also the returning Countdown (if the rain comes) are all of interest, along with the good front-runner Spanish Bounty. Such a tough race to pick apart but we are left with Oldjoesaid.
