Verdict
RAINBOW VIEW can provide a pot of gold as she is selected to see off the stern challenge of Fred Darling winner Lahaleeb and the unbeaten Serious Attitude. A drift in the betting earlier in the week was quickly remedied as John Gosden informed punters that she was on schedule for this race and pleasing at home. She was the top filly of last year (won the Sweet Solera Stakes, the May Hill Stakes and the Fillies' Mile) and the plan was always to come to this race without a run. She has apparently pleased connections with her progression over the winter and she really should win today. Serious Attitude is also unbeaten but her form doesn't quite compare. She steps up from six furlongs for the first time which might be a worry for a horse with so much natural speed, but she is bred to get at least this far and it would be unwise to rule her out. Lahaleeb ran around a bit last time on her reappearance at Newbury when touching off the well-backed Super Sleuth, and she only has three lengths to find with Rainbow View on May Hill form. The Irish challenge is perhaps stronger than it is being credited with. Again disappointed on her final start at Longchamp but was progressive before then and she holds Shimah on their clash at the Curragh where she triumphed in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. Jim Bolger knows how to plunder these big pots and he won this race with Finsceal Beo in 2007. Cuis Ghaire is stepped up in trip today and she is rated much better than her flop on heavy ground when last seen at Leopardstown. Quick ground evidently suits her and this daughter of Galileo is one to keep on the right side of. Heart Shaped has a bit to prove having been beaten on her comeback in a race where the form hasn't worked out too well, but all of the stables runners have been improving for a run. The Godolphin challenger Devotee is a bit of an unknown but she doesn't look quite up to this judging by her form to date and she is readily passed over. The favourite Rainbow View deserves her place at the head of the betting and she is fancied to live up to her reputation and win the 2009 renewal of the 1000 guineas.
