Division one of the maiden looks very open and from a shortlist of GEORGE THISBY, Cape Melody, Tender Charm and newcomers Zip Lock and New Leyf, it is our friend George who is narrowly preferred. Rod Millman's gelding was a real eye-catcher on his first start at Doncaster where he was second to Makaamen. That winner looks as if he could be very decent and although his next run at Warwick was not so hot, we fancy him to run well today. He is related to six furlong winners as well as seven so this drop in trip could be in his favour and he can lead them home. Tender Charm shaped with some promise on his debut at Lingfield and he needs respect as his trainer does well here but his draw in stall one may work against him. Roger Charlton's horses tend to improve for their debut runs so Badge is not to be dismissed along with The Desert Saint and Cape Melody who have both shown ability in two starts a-piece. Of the newcomers Zip Lock strikes as the most likely, although money for New Leyf would make him of more interest. The former cost 220,000 Euros and this son of Invincible Spirit is related to several classy sprinters, whilst New Leyf is a well-related son of Kheylef and is not to be taken lightly. A tough race to call but the feeling is that George Thisby can triumph.
