HAJOUM is taken to win division two of the six furlong maidens with Print, Hightime Heroine and Avertor listed as the dangers. The selection shaped with plenty of promise in two starts last season, and although he was unable to win at either York or Yarmouth, he has shown enough to be of interest today. A half-brother to the very smart sprinter Swiss Lake, his family have improved as they have got older and we fancy him to continue the family trait. Of the newcomers Hightime Heroine catches the eye; Jeremy Noseda's Danetime filly is a half-sister to Redolent and although she will get further in time, she may be smart enough to play a hand on her debut. Avertor and Akabar represent trainers whose horses often improve markedly for their first start but each has a strong speed influence in their pedigree and it would be unwise to rule either out. Of those to have raced Bahkov and Rapid Water will need to improve, whilst Print has shown more promise and the two maidens that he contested last year are working out fairly well. If he has improved from two to three then he must be of interest but we are happy to side with Hajoum.
