Cheek-pieces may elicit some improvement from Cheveton who has raced lazily on more than one occasion but it is DARK MISCHIEF who makes most appeal to us and is selected ahead of Global City and Instalment. Henry Candy's progressive son of Namid was a winner on his debut at Windsor and he then scored in a competitive handicap at Newmarket on his reappearance this year. It may be that he is best fresh but he is open to plenty of improvement and he fully deserves his 9lb rise in the ratings. Cheviot has ability and he looked to have the race won last time at Ripon but in the end he paid the price for racing with little enthusiasm from an early stage and it is not often that Michael Jarvis puts headgear on his runners. Instalment has top-weight to carry this afternoon following a series of consistent efforts in Group races last season; the drop in trip may well suit and he was able to win on his first start last year. The step back up in trip looks sure to suit Ginobli, Timeteam should improve for a recent comeback run, whilst Felday was well-fancied for his reappearance at Newbury and shaped with plenty of promise; if he handles this shorter trip then he must go close. Global City won at Lingfield on his final start last season where he was dropped in class. He has plenty of speed and he rates a danger, although a 9lb higher mark makes life much tougher. Daddy's Gift is better than he was able to show last time but it is Dark Mischief who is fancied to lead them all home.
