Verdict

Nosferatu has plenty more in the locker and is fancied to provide Amanda Perrett another winner of this prestigious event; Sentry Duty will have to defy all the statistics about carrying weight, but, along with Irish raider Al Eile, is respected as a tough opponent with a solid each-way chance. The same can be said of Chester Cup-winner Greenwich Meantime, who is a versatile character that is likely to have his supporters. However, the ground has turned against Richard Fahey's charge and it will take a lifetime best for him to prevail. Others worth noting include: Sir Michael Stoute's Ogee, who is interesting now that he is upped in distance, while Colloquial and River Alhaarth appear closely matched and should again run their races. Both have ground to make up with Sentry Duty, who won a valuable handicap at Newmarket when he was last seen out. Set to race off an 8lb higher mark, the Nicky Henderson-trained gelding has a big task ahead of him, though. Jumps trainers do have a fair record in this race and Len Lungo's Monolith can make his presence known once more. The Scottish trainer won this with a similar type in Mirjan three years ago and his charge again looks one of the lively outsiders worth considering. Al Eile has been well supported in the ante post betting and looks sure to be on the premises. However, Nosferatu stands out as a very well handicapped type and, on the assumption the trip is no problem, he can strike another blow for his very capable trainer.
