FATHOM FIVE looked to have a bit in hand when obliging at Epsom on his reappearance and is taken to go in again at the main expense of Hamish McGonagall and Cheveton. Alan Munro heads north for the mount on Fathom Five, and the partnership saw off a similar sized field when last seen a couple of months ago. Chris Wall's gelding clearly goes well when fresh, all his wins have come at this trip, and he is also capable of stringing a sequence together. Those are all positive factors that might help him record a career best win tonight. Cheveton and Hamish McGonagall are no strangers to mixing it, having already opposed each other twice this turf campaign. Richard Price's gelding has come out on top on both occasions, at level weights and then receiving 3lbs. However, Tim Easterby's runners are showing signs of a return to form and his inmate may finally be able to eclipse his rival here. Jaconet has been a huge improver for David Barron, rocketing up around 30lbs since landing a Ripon seller last summer, and she should be very competitive once again at these weights. Captain Dunne is another Easterby runner that has been going well enough without getting his nose in front, evidenced by back-to-back seconds. Unfortunately he has gone up 5lbs and that makes this a fair bit tougher. Pavershooz sprang a surprise at Musselburgh last time and there is no reason why she can't reproduce that effort, so is respected as a result, but preference is for Fathom Five.
