Wyatt Earp, Rising Shadow and Mecca¿s Mate are the three for the shortlist here and preference is for Wyatt Earp. Mecca¿s Mate has been something of a revelation since reverting to the minimum trip and underlined that with another win last time, beating The Leather Wedge convincingly at Ayr. That was on an easy surface and any surface seems to suit him, although the extra furlong here may not be in his favour. Rising Shadow is on an attractive mark and he ran well to be a close fast finishing third in a similar contest at Epsom on Derby Day. He must go well. Wyatt Earp had a disappointing season last year but the consequence is that he started the season on an attractive mark. He has taken full advantage of that, turning in some decent efforts before winning well at Redcar last time over this trip. He receives weight from most of his rivals, and provided the ground remains fast, is the one to be on. Wyatt Earp gets the vote.
