Lord Of The East can land the claimer at the expense of The Old Soldier and Lord Chamberlain. BHB ratings often count for little in these contests but it is folly to ignore Lord Of The East's figure and with apprentice Victoria Behan in such cracking form, it is hoped that she can galvanise a win from this tricky customer. The Old Soldier does not do things particularly quickly but he is an admirable enough sort. He just about stays this seven although he would be much better in had this been a handicap. Lord Chamberlain is likely to be plugging on again at the finish. His better trip appears to be a mile these days and he will doubtless make a bold bid for the places. Juniper Banks was a gritty winner of a very poor Ripon seller. The fact that he had not broken his maiden in 26 starts says it all. Vademecum could be one at longer odds. Rising star Greg Fairley has been booked for the banded stakes graduate and while his turf form has not been up to scratch, his plummet down the handicap was from a fairly high base figure. Reedsman ran a solid race under National Hunt rules at Fakenham in June. He is fit enough and the betting ring shall tell us if he is fancied. Lord Of The East is not opposed.
