Verdict
With little form to go on, this race comes with the caveat of check the market for any that are being backed or swerved, but we'll tentatively offer our backing to BURGAU ROYAL in preference to Hoof It and Lucky Traveller. Mick Channon's two year olds tend to improve from their debut, and Burgau Royal ran a decent race last week when fourth in a better maiden than this at Windsor. The draw may be against him, but we don't know how much there is here to beat. Hoof It had a couple of months absence between first and second runs, and showed big improvement. Further progress could see him lose his maiden tag, and it may be significant he's dropped in class and trip. Tim Easterby's two year olds are going well, and Lucky Traveller should be all the better for a very green running debut. Of the newcomers, Alan Swinbank's Golden Emperor could be interesting. A modest purchase, with a good draw, breeding suggests he may want further in time. The market can give us more clues, with nearly half of these making their debut, but we'll side with Burgau Royal.
