Cathedral Walk ran encouragingly on debut and gets the nod in this company. Stablemates Drill Sergeant and Power Desert are others worth noting in the betting, while Resounding Glory has a race within him and is also one the bear in mind. The last named ran on well in the closing stages of a Pontefract maiden a fortnight ago and holds each-way claims if he can repeat the effort today. Power Desert is a nicely bred type that represents a top yard, so has to be on the shortlist. However, his breeding suggests that he will need a touch further and he may have to settle for a minor role today. Mark Johnston also sends out Drill Sergeant - an 82,000gns purchase at the sales - and is well represented. This son of Rock Of Gibraltar has plenty of ticks in the right boxes and it will be interesting to see how he fares on his first start in public. Nevertheless, Cathedral Walk is fancied to have the edge on this occasion. The Karl Burke-trained colt showed a likeable attitude on his recent introduction at Ayr - coping admirably with the cut in the ground. That experience will have sharpened up Cathedral Walk and a big run can be expected today.
