A good race to round-off the meeting and Byron Lamb is fancied to enhance his profile as a solid performer for northern-based handicaps by recording his eighth victory from what will be only his twelfth start. Jordan's Ridge has to be feared as a live danger if his tumble at Kelso has not left any mental scars and, along with Curley Spencer and Thosewerethedays, he is expected to make this a real test for the selection. It would also be dangerous to rule out the enigmatic Robbo, who will keep his supporters guessing right up to the line if he runs his usual detached race. However, he might find his match with Byron Lamb, who still has plenty of scope for improvement and is too hard to ignore as the most progressive of these at this stage of his career.
