Not a race to be dogmatic about as some shrewd yards are set to be represented in this wide-open bumper. Gary's Pimpernel, Flight Command and Maybe She Will set the standard as previous winners coming into the race, but have incurred the mandatory penalties and are therefore opposable in such a large field as this. Therefore a chance is taken with one of the newcomers and Le Biassais is forwarded as a tentative selection on the assumption that an each way price will be available. The Len Lungo team have done very well with their French imports over the last few years and this son of Passing Sale, who was a winner of three Group races on the Flat in Italy and France in the early nineties, should have no problems in handling the ground if he has inherited any of his sire's attributes to racing. The selection's stablemate, Word Gets Round, also has to be respected and will no doubt attract plenty of support. But he failed to quicken out of the ground at Ayr last time and may need more time before he registers his first win under rules. So, in summary, a chance is taken that Le Biassais will know what to do first time out and can carry his 3lb conditional to victory.
