In depth

Verdict

A number of these have been redirected here after yesterday's action at Ayr fell prey to the weather and the hint should be taken with Emerging Star, whose connections are obviously keen to get him back on the track as soon as possible. Edmo Yewkay, a previous course and distance winner, heads the list of dangers, but Rocket Bleu, Culcabock and Outside Investor are all respected in their claims and should play a big part in what looks set to be an informative contest. Machrihanish will also be interesting if he consents to race this time but he has definite temperament problems and is one for the brave only at this stage. Therefore, Emerging Star, a good second behind Kentucky Blue at Wetherby last November, looks the most solid option today. The four-year-old, a winner over 10 furlongs on the Flat for George Moore, has taken very well to the winter game and can utilise his turn of foot on going that should suit him ideally assuming that the overnight frost has dissipated enough for him to leave a good impression on the ground.
