Favourites have a poor record in the last few runnings of this race as soft ground has played it's part in making this a real test. This year's running appears to be no different regarding the going but the Len Lungo-trained Carapuce acts very well on the surface and is selected as a hopeful choice to land the decent prize-money on offer. Tee Jay, Simlet and Ireland's Eye all come into the race with solid chances and will not make it easy for the selection though - whilst last year's winner, A Few Bob Back, will do very well to overcome a 20lb higher mark. Mirjan is another who appears to have his work cut out for him as he is set to concede plenty of weight to the majority of his rivals; including his stablemate, Carapuce, who appears to be the Lungo team's best hope judging by the jockey bookings alone. However, his profile also fits the bill for a race of this nature and he is the one to beat with just 10st-13lb and Tony Dobbin on his back.
