Verdict

In an interesting maiden, Storm Sir is selected ahead of Thannaan and Paco Boy. This is another good race on a good card of racing at Newbury. Thumbnail sketches of our key players are: the Barry Hills-trained Thannaan is well-related and the betting should be watched with interest; the Jeremy Noseda-trained Storm Sir cost 270,000 dollars; the Richard Hannon-trained Desiderio is a half-brother to, among others, Suggestive; the same trainer's Paco Boy showed promise when third on his Kempton debut; a third Hannon runner is Reel Man, who showed some promise on his Haydock debut. Bear in mind, though, that at the 48-hour stage, Ryan Moore's riding arrangements re the Hannon trio had not been fully established. Finally, Eve Johnson Houghton has had a fine season and she runs the 40,000 euros purchase Bombardier Wells. Once again, then, in a race where the betting could be very informative, the selection is Storm Sir.
