In depth

Verdict

Mijas Playa ran a little better than the bare form suggests at Chester but Mick Channon has been the man to follow in this contest so AILSA CARMEL and Fly Silca Fly could be the pair to concentrate on. Kurtanella made an encouraging debut behind a more experienced filly at Salisbury and rates highly with the yard's strength in depth in this division the stuff of legend. Mijas Playa was forced to race wide at Chester and never really seemed at ease on the track but her debut form has worked out well and she rates a leading player. Astarta is related to plenty of winners but, in truth, all of the newcomers make some appeal on paper as one might expect given that they're starting their careers in this company. Flashy Wings and Queen's Logic number amongst the four recent Channon winners of this race so his runners are always going to come under the microscope. The market may help us to choose between the pair but we'll opt for Ailsa Carmel as her sire's first crop appear to be fairly precocious and her dam showed useful form as a juvenile.
