Nothing leaps off the page so it is only tentatively that we plump for MONSIEUR PONTAVEN ahead of Rescent and Choc 'A' Moca. Robin Bastiman's gelding ran his best race to date when third to Ryedane at Carlisle last time out. He was running on well at the line suggesting that this longer trip will suit and a bold bid is anticipated off a fair mark. Dispol Kabira didn't seem to stay at Hamilton last time out and the drop in trip and return to an easier track is a good move however she has had a busy schedule, so a bigger threat could be Choc 'A' Moca who ran well at Catterick in April and is a player in the first-time visor. Weetentherty shaped with more promise at Carlisle and the handicapper is (quite rightly) giving him a chance, Coolella is more consistent than many and is not ignored off top-weight, whilst Lady Vyrnmy is unexposed and remains capable of better. Rescent (held by Dispol Kabira on Carlisle form) looks to be on a decent mark, however the vote in a weak race goes to Monsieur Pontaven.
