In depth

Verdict

Kevin Ryan's Sarwin is held by Applaude on their running at Hamilton in June despite Richard Guest's runner going up further in the weights after wins at Redcar and over course and distance recently and he is hard to recommend. Applaude has every chance himself but seems to now be in the grip of the handicapper, while Paul Midgley's Ra Junior is likely to struggle to give weight away all round. Casino Night ran better at Haydock last time but would ideally want softer ground, while Fantastic Strike needs to improve on the form shown on his reappearance at Thirsk. The vote then goes the way of Jim Goldie's GRAND DIAMOND, who deserves to get his head in front having been running consistently well in recent starts and he can gain a deserved success.
