      Verdict

      MERCHANT OF DUBAI remains a horse who looks still to be on the right side of the assessor and judging by his victory last time at Southwell off a 5lb lower mark, he is clearly the one to beat here. Lost Soldier Three gained his first victory in over three years last time at Catterick last time. Formerly a smart handicapper for Luca Cumani, he remains well treated on the best of his form but does not look to have the scope of Merchant Of Dubai at this stage of his career. Acropolis and Gordonsville are others of note in the race. Acropolis has not won since 2004 in Ireland and is another that is vulnerable against lesser exposed sorts while Gordonsville has finished runner-up on nine of his 19 starts and is ultra-frustrating.
