A maiden that should take little winning and Record Breaker is chanced at the expense of Bold Indian and Malguru. Record Breaker cost 110 000 guineas at the sales and was sent off favourite for a maiden at Ascot on debut. This is quite some lowering in terms of sights but the fact that he still holds an entry in the 2,000 Guineas suggests that he must have shown something worthwhile at home. Bold Indian's most recent run at Wolverhampton should be ignored as he bombed to post beforehand. Provided that he can be kept cool on the way to the start, his previous form reads well in the context of the race. Malguru is respected from a shrewd operation although the breeding suggests that he might be better with some cut in the ground. Dilwin was a disappointing favourite on his latest start and this looks tougher on paper. Dee Jay Wells makes a debut for Richard Fahey following an unsuccessful stint with Richard Hannon. Emerald Wilderness sets the benchmark for the contest although backers have probably lost faith after a string of second places. Record Breaker has plenty in his favour and is afforded our nomination.
