In depth

Verdict

Writ is recommended ahead of Motu and Hamassy. Ian Semple's charge is rated significantly lower on the turf than on the all-weather following just four starts on the green stuff and while it is always dangerous to try and equate the two disciplines, his shrewd handler looks to have had this engagement in mind for some time. Motu arrives here off the back of a victory at Wolverhampton on the all-weather. That was a moderate handicap to say the least and more is required here. David Nicholls' yard are in great nick at present so Hamaasy should not be discounted. John Keats is coming down the handicap in spades and appears the pick of the Goldie contingent. Cut Ridge has ability albeit tempered with some inconsistency. Flylowflylong did not appreciate a first time visor and the headgear has been removed on a return to the track. Attacca looks best of the remainder. A tough race to sort out and Writ is recommended to only the most minimum of stakes.
