In depth

Verdict

Declan McDonogh has picked up a nice spare ride on Lion Of War, who was third here on his reappearance, but the Roaring Lion colt is one of three Charlie Johnston runners and Joe Fanning’s mount Gareeb is just as interesting after a fair fourth back on Turf at Newmarket. Iato's Angel is looking a bit exposed and Kelpie Grey was entered to run in the 4.05 Carlisle yesterday but Coco Jack could give a good account having been dropped another couple of pounds. Dancing In Paris came up against an improver at Sandown after scoring at Haydock and Redcar maiden winner Milteye is on an upward curve but the vote goes to OLD SMOKE. The Thirsk winner ran really well in a hot handicap at Newbury two weeks ago despite not quite lasting home over the 1m2f.
