Buttress has the fast ground that he craves and is taken to make a winning start to his handicap career at the moan expense of Qualitair Pleasure and Arjay. The last mentioned is a consistent performer in this grade and can be expected to run his usual good race but may again have to settle for a minor role. Richard Guest saddles two with marginal preference for Jimmy Byrne ahead of Dan de Lion, although jockey booking suggest otherwise. The handicapper has given Six Pack a chance, dropping him 10lbs since his most recent outing, while Moldavia represents local trainer Michael Chapman, who loves to have winners here. Buz Kiri has along absence to overcome and of more interest may be Qualitair Pleasure for who the booking of Keith Mercer really takes the eye. The vote though goes to Buttress, who has well in non-handicaps and looks to have been allotted a fair mark for his debut in this grade.
