Adantino is taken to give weight away to the likes of Laurel Dawn, Davids Mark and Pawan. Adantino has gained all three career victories at the Surrey track, and although successful over seven furlongs here in February, seems much better suited to today's trip. Rod Millman's charge fairly bolted up in a classified stakes race at the end of November, and a repeat of that form should make him hard to beat in his follow-up bid. Riquewihr has been disappointng since being switched to the all-weather but this faster surface may bring about a revival in his fortunes. It is hard to see him beating the selection though and bigger dangers lurk further down the weights. Laurel Dawn felt the benefit of a gelding operation when beating the appropriately-named Flying Tackle at Beverley in June and has slipped well down the weighs lately. He might just need the run though, while Davids Mark overcame a bad draw at Wolverhampton to finish third 12 days ago and will be suited by the step up in trip. In contrast, Pawan takes a big drop in distance, but will find even this weak affair harder than when scoring in banded company at Southwell the time before last. Adantino is the pick.
