Gulchina is taken to land the opener at the expense of Untimely, Missy Cinofaz, and newcomers Mambo Princess and Tootsy. This is not a bad little maiden for the time of the year, and we reckon that Gulchina can improve on her promising debut at Newmarket in October to score. The daughter of Gulch was not knocked about at headquarters that day, but still managed to finish within two lengths of the winner Read Federica. Although likely to be upped to a mile next year, she should pay to follow over seven furlongs this time, with Richard Quinn on board again. Untimely was slowly away on her Southwell introduction so did well in the circumstances to get as close as she did to the winner. However, this faster surface might again see Hughie Morrison's filly taken off here feet, and she will probably need further on breeding anyway. Missy Cinofaz has a slightly longer absence to overcome, having also finished in fourth position on her latest outing here in October. That was a big improvement on what she showed on her Yarmouth debut, and her experience of the Polytrack will come in handy. Mambo Princess and Tilly are both bred to appreciate further but come from top yards so should be noted in the market. We prefer the claims of Gulchina however and give her a narrow vote.
