Northside Lodge is out to get the losses back and can do so at the expense of Caledonian, Smokin Joe, Noora and Karaoke in the day's feature race. Northside Lodge last visited the winner's enclosure over two years ago at Yarmouth, but should go well in his bid to record his fifth success over today's course and distance if recent evidence is anything to go by. He found only the useful Red Spell too good in a decent race here in November and although turning the tables on that rival at Wolverhampton next time, again had to settle for second best as Weecando had his measure. Back on this track though, Northside Lodge will be tough to cope with and he can pay to support. Caledonian was ridden to a cheeky maiden win by Richard Quinn in November, and after missing the break here three weeks ago, produced a sterling effort to nearly get up and beat Corriolanus. He was 8lb out of the handicap then, and off his correct mark here will have plenty of supporters. However, the concession of 5lb to the selection may prove too much of aburden despite his claims. Smokin Joe is in form but has more to do, as does Noora, but it would be no surprise if Karaoke were to be placed off his light weight. The best race on the card can go the way of Northside Lodge
