In depth

Verdict

A 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop Rebel Rebel, who can follow up last week's Yarmouth success; possibly with Society Music and Resistance Heroine providing the stiffest tests. That said, it could also pay dividends to monitor the lightly weighted Royal Pardon, as she has shaped up nicely enough in her last two starts to suggest that her turn could be just around the corner and a positive move in the betting for Michael Bell's charge should not be dismissed lightly. Transvestite is another that has posted a few signs of ability and should appreciate the ease in grade today. The son of Trans Island crossed over to handicap company without much luck at Chester earlier in the month, but this slightly more conventional track should suit him better today. Chicken Soup also takes a drop in class this afternoon and his connections will be able to take stock of where he goes from here, as he still faces no easy task in carrying top weight in this company. Society Music has failed to stave off the attentions of stronger finishers since he won his maiden at Musselburgh and now looks vulnerable to a more progressive type. A profile exactly presented by Rebel Rebel, who is very shortly set for a hefty rise in the weights. The manner in which he countered his rivals when breezing to victory at Yarmouth, suggests that Rebel Rebel still has plenty more to offer and the son of Revoque is fancied to be a revelation again here.
