Jodawes, Lou Bear and Caracal are the ones that catch the eye here, with Jodawes perhaps the pick on form, and he gets the vote. This is a tricky contest, and with the Mark Johnston yard in such good form, Caracal, having only raced twice, merits serious consideration. He was well held in fourth on his last start in a little Newcastle auction maiden, and he needs to improve on that here. Lou Bear stepped up on previous form when beaten only two lengths over this course and distance last time, and a reproduction of that run, on only his third start, or indeed further improvement, can see him hit the frame here. Jodawes finished only a length and a quarter ahead of Lou Bear recently, but that was only his second run and he looks progressive. Jodawes can make it third time lucky.
