A poor contest can go the way of Veneer, with Ronnies Lad and I'm Aimee others to consider. This is not a contest to dwell on for too long, and only a cautious vote is given to Veneer who appreciated the first-time blinkers when landing a similar event for Richard Hannon at Wolverhampton in December. It has to be said that he got no sort of run on his first outing for Gay Kelleway a week later on what was his first visit to Lingfield, and he was well beaten on a return trip in January. However, he has had a little break and is dropped down to a more suitable level again so we can expect an improved showing. Ronnies Lad found 10 furlongs too far last time will be much more at home today. This is his type of race as well so it would be no surprise if he were to go close. I'm Aimee in contrast is back up in trip after staying on over six furlongs in selling company here last week. She is still a maiden and always seems to find one too good, but if she is ever going to win a race then this is the sort of weak affair that fits the bill. Tiger Hunter caused a shock when going in at odds of 66-1 in an apprentice claimer here in January but has been well beaten since, and so we return to Veneer as the likely winner.
