An interesting maiden can go the way of New Wave ahead of Gasping and newcomers Mogaamer, Nightwing and Look of Eagles. New Wave has the benefit of experience here and that should stand him in good stead against the debutantes mentioned. Chris Wall's gelding had the misfortune to run into David Loder's useful Pianoforte at Wolverhampton just over a fortnight ago, going down by a head in the end after a good battle in the straight. He was sent off favourite that day on the strength of a very promising debut at the same track three weeks earlier, and with more improvement to come, the son of Woodman should make a bold bid to get losses back. Mick Channon's filly Gasping caught the eye when finishing with a flourish on her debut here 11 days ago. She is drawn wide in stall 12 but can still make her presence felt. The market should be noted regarding the newcomers including Marcus Tregoning's Mogaamer, a son of Dixieland Band, while both Nightwing and Look of Eagles are bred to come into their own over further in time. New Wave has the form in the book to take the beating today though and should pay to follow.
