Verdict

Muhannak escapes a penalty for his comfortable success in an apprentice rider's race last week and is hard to oppose in this contest, with Gerard Butler's colt getting the vote ahead of Kingscape and Wise Little Girl. The last mentioned has shown gradual improvement in each start in a handicap and was good value for his win at Chester last time but this looks tougher. Sir Michael Stoute's Chord struggled at Kempton last time and, while he may do better back here, he is hard to recommend after that latest effort. Altilhar may struggle to give weight away all round back on the level and of more interest may be James Fanshawe's Kingscape who looks to be going the right way. Muhannak has obvious claims though and is the confident choice.
