With the yard going well it may be worth siding with CARDINAL in this handicap, while My Flame, Grey Boy and Ever Cheerful are among those of interest. The selection is unusually still racing as an entire at five-years-old and he put in a decent run on his recent return from a break when second over 6f at Southwell. He has done most of his running over that trip of late, but is bred to stay at least this far, and he acts on slower ground, so we will suggest him. My Flame was a half-length winner at Brighton last time from a 3lb lower mark, and both his career wins have come at that specialist track. He has not shown much in previous tries here and is taken on. Grey Boy's Warwick run last time gives him claims, as he is effective over 7f and in these conditions, though ideally he needs to drop a few pounds, while Tenancy has as good-a-chance as many over this distance and with a bit of ease in the ground. Ever Cheerful represents a yard in cracking form and although he has shown very little for some time a return to the frame off this mark is not ruled out. A tricky race and it would be a sin to overlook Cardinal.
