Cabourg is a tentative pick over the likes of Digger Boy, Ebraam and Lavenham in division two of the maiden. Cabourg had more opportunities than most here as a juvenile, Lavenham apart, and was fitted with first-time blinkers on his return at Windsor last month. The race proved a disaster for Charles Egerton's charge as he took a fierce hold and failed to settle, with Alan Munro having a constant battle just to keep him straight. Not surprisingly the aids are left off here, and a semblance of last season's form should see the son of Danehill make a bold bid. Digger Boy showed plenty of early speed when tried over a mile here last time and will be suited by the drop back in trip, so rates a danger along with Ebraam who made no show when sent off favourite on his Newmarket bow last autumn. He is better than that but might need the run to put him straight. As mentioned earlier, Lavenham can boast plenty of experience, but she needs to find another level to get seriously involved, and we prefer the claims of Cabourg on last season's evidence.
