UPAVON has been struggling on the Turf but was placed on the all-weather on a couple of occasions earlier this year. Richard Hughes’ charge is clear of these at the weights with the exception of Penarth Pier though the latter has failed to figure since winning at Wolverhampton last summer. Creek Harbour was placed over 7f at Salisbury recently and should figure given the remaining trio have plenty to find on today’s unfavourable terms.
Creek Harbour (IRE) 16-1 (9-4) Led, took keen hold, headed over 2f out, rallied over 1f out, kept on same pace final furlong, 3rd of 10, 3 3/4l behind Marshal Dan (9-10) at Salisbury 7f hcp (5) gf in May.
Deer Song 100-1 (8-10) Tracked leader, lost place over 2f out, 10th of 11, at Goodwood 6f hcp (5) gd in May.
Upavon 20-1 (9-0) Chased leaders on outside for 4f, last of 6, 21l behind Paddy Power (9-7) at Goodwood 6f hcp (4) gf in May.
Fata Morgana 66-1 (8-2) Prominent, weakened over 3f out, tailed off, last of 10, dist behind Club Tropicana (9-6) at Yarmouth 1m hcp (6) gf in May.
Penarth Pier (IRE) 25-1 (9-6) Dwelt and went left start, always behind, 9th of 12, 7 3/4l behind Chitra (9-5) at Salisbury 6f hcp (5) gf in May.
Meraki 6-1 (9-3) Raced freely, prominent, led over 1f out, headed entering final furlong, soon hung right, no extra, 4th of 10, 4l behind Burning Lake (9-7) at Newcastle 7f (6) pol in Oct.
