PLAY UP POMPEY gets the verdict in this poor contest with Casablanca Minx and Red Current also in with claims. The vote goes the way of the selection after showing some better form in his last outing when fourth of 13 over a longer trip at Kempton. His last win came in December 2007 and because of his poor performances since is now back below the mark he won off for only the second time since being raised. He looks the best of a very bad bunch. In a race where recent winning form is at a premium Red Current at least has that in her locker. That came in September but she's been nowhere since but is at least still off a rating nine pounds lower than that gold. Casablanca Minx arrives here with some average form at her disposal but it's better than a lot of these while the same could be said for Flash Of Fire. The vote, though, goes marginally to Play Up Pompey.
