Verdict

A poor contest to conclude proceedings, but there has to be a winner, and we'll side here with DENTON ahead of Platoche and Chinese Profit. It's not that strong a selection, as these are racing at this level for a reason, and this is for horses rated 0-55. Jeremy Gask's runner, formerly racing in Australia, didn't perform that well when tried over a mile at Southwell, but a step up in trip on a firmer surface could be the trick to this one breaking its maiden, and they wouldn't have brought it halfway round the world if it didn't have some ability. Platoche is lightly raced compared to some, and had his best effort here last month when third. The headgear's taken off today, but if there's more improvement to come he could be worth keeping onside of. Chinese Profit has been regressive since a decent return from a lengthy lay-off and needs to step up in performance, but he's shown some ability. Play Up Pompey was a course and distance winner in December but has shown little since. Tabulate also knows how to win here but that was more than a year ago. Wicked Lady returns after almost a year off, so any support could be significant. It's not a race to get the blood pumping on paper, but we'll suggest it can go the way of Denton.
