Another wide open affair with a big field, with marginal preference being for JOE PACKET, ahead of Dr Finley and Power Series. As ever a close watch on the market's needed for any to back or swerve given there's little form to go on. By siding with Jonathan Portman's only runner on the card, we're opting for experience. He only cost ¿500 but has shown a great attitude in his two runs to date, and a similar level of improvement as shown from debut to his second run could be enough to land this. The step up in trip looks a plus. Michael Bell's two year olds probably aren't the best crop he's ever had, but Dr Finley's entitled to come on for a reasonable Yarmouth debut, and the high draw is a big plus. Power Series could be anything, but John Gosden knows how to turn out a debutant winner, and again has a positive draw. The betting ring needs to be watched closely with eight newcomers and three having only had two runs, including our selection, Joe Packet.
