Before The War and Christmas Carnival catch the eye for previous performances but our tentative selection is LATHAAT. In her last race at Goodwood which was run over seven furlongs, she lost out by just over three lengths. Interestingly, she stayed on right through the line and this distance may be the perfect trip for this horse who has improved on each of her two starts. Equally, Lathaat's pedigree is worth noting and John Dunlop has a 31% strike rate at Leicester with three-year-olds. Luca Cumani trains Before The War and he too has a decent record at this course. Before The War comes back from a break and will need to perform better than in two maidens on the polytracks. Christmas Carnival did well at Newbury when losing out by only a length a half behind Colonel Carter. The winner of that race has since gone on to score again and Christmas Carnival will stand a good chance of notching up a win here. However, we side with the progressive Lathaat.
