Perhaps not quite as competitive as the size of the field would imply and a chance is given to Resplendent Star to concede weight all round. The Michael Jarvis-trained gelding has been running creditably in defeat in useful handicap company on the all-weather of late and this represents a significant ease in grade. The son of Northern Baby returns to the turf on a favourable mark and can take advantage of a fitness edge over his chief market rivals. Lough Bow and Woodyates both ended last term on a winning note but this pair, who make their seasonal return, could prove vulnerable off their revised mark. Aphra Benn showed nothing on her handicap debut at Lingfield earlier in the month but she will be sharper for the outing and the step up in trip should suit so Geoff Wragg's charge has to enter calculations. John Dunlop saddles Living Daylights, who has shown only modest ability to date but is lightly raced and open to a fair degree of improvement so shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.
