Gramercy should be popular but DEACON BLUES caught the eye at Nottingham and may start at more rewarding odds whilst Humidor makes the short list. Some softening of the ground would probably be required to enable Gramercy to show his best form but there was plenty to like about the way that he stayed on at Wolverhampton under Saleem Golam after a slow start and he can be expected to improve. Humidor stepped up considerably on his debut form to go close at Windsor behind a horse that contested a Listed race at Newbury on Saturday so he has to rate a player. Excellent Vision has shown enough to think that he can win a race of this nature and he represents the yard that won this race last year. The less experienced Orchid Wing wasn't too far behind him at York so also merits inclusion whilst Mint Whip represents a top yard but preference is for Deacon Blue. James Fanshawe's juveniles tend to improve considerably for their initial experience and there was a lot to like about the way that his son of Compton Place stayed on at Nottingham. He can be expected to build on that here and Deacon Blues can take the number one spot.
