In depth

Verdict

Newcomer Jabraan is probably capable of landing this open maiden, with Mostashaar, Spanish Ridge and Tragedian others likely to show up well. The selection is sent out by the still-in-form Godolphin team, who have championship leader Frankie Dettori in the plate to ensure that the colt has every chance on his introduction. The selection's sire was precocious over this trip as a juvenile, and he acted on just about any ground, so Jabraan has plenty to recommend him and with first-time winners not a problem for the team in blue then we take him to score. Mostashaar has the benefit of a previous run but Godolphin will have a line on him through Banchieri, who finished comfortably in front of Hamdan Al Maktoum's colt over course and distance in August. That was not a bad debut effort and more is expected here, with the form of the race looking solid. Spanish Ridge failed to improve on a satisfactory debut at Newbury when down the field at Newmarket last time, but with this easier ground in his favour we expect to see some improvement. Tragedian is an interesting newcomer for John Gosden, being a half-brother to some speedy sorts. The yard are going well at present and it would be no surprise to see a bold showing from the Theatrical colt, but Godolphin have been farming these events this year and can do so here with Jabraan.
