Sforzando and Kristen Stubbs have formed a good partnership in races like this and are expected to be the ones to beat again; Consonant, Summer Lodge and Lysandra appear to be the main dangers amongst this modest bunch of rivals. Lysandra has been struggling to find his form this season and, despite dropping to a handy mark, is not one to trust implicitly. However, this stiff uphill finish will play to his strengths and the four-year-old has a solid chance of making the frame if he gets the strong pace he needs. Summer Lodge is still open to improvement and, as he comes here in good heart, the Mark Tompkins-trained gelding should not be underestimated. Patrick Hills has been catching the eye of late and his 3lb claim may prove a crucial factor on these terms. Watch the betting carefully with this pairing. Consonant started his career with Godolphin and was thought good enough to take on Group company as a juvenile. Life obvious took an about turn for him soon afterwards but he does still have the ability to be a factor at this level. And, as there have been recent signs for encouragement, he too can make this a good test. However, Sforzando is really thriving on being kept busy of late and, with the trip and ground not expected to be a problem, this looks a fair opportunity for him to continue to pay his way.
