In depth

Verdict

Menai Bridge and Desert History were second and third over a mile at Haydock last time and there should be little between them at the revised weights, with both expected to handle this additional quarter-mile. In contrast, SONNING steps down in trip after possibly not getting home at Chester and can concede weight all round, having scored quite cosily at today's trip at Beverley on his previous outing. With only five career starts, he should have plenty more to offer. The unexposed pair of Night Of Dreams and Big Boy Bobby should progress in handicaps and The Thunderer is interesting with James Doyle booked for this first run on turf.
