A big field of 20 is set to line up for the Wokingham Trial Handicap, with a high draw normally considered advantageous. Texas Gold has drawn the box seat in stall 20 and the Willie Muir-trained five-year-old has shown in his two runs so far this term that he is in good form. He began the current campaign by finishing second to James Stark on the all-weather track at Lingfield in March, before finishing fifth to Kathology at Epsom last month when that course's unique gradients may have caught him out. Back on this flatter terrain, and with that good draw on his side, too, Texas Gold looks like being difficult to beat. Course winner Idle Power, another who has been running well so far this season, has not been so well served by the draw having been allocated stall three, while Brevity (another poorly drawn) and Candleriggs have chances on their best form but are not particularly consistent types. In a typically open sprint handicap, Texas Gold gets our vote.
